Liam Payne’s sister gets emotional over late singer’s ‘Building the Band’ appearance

Liam Payne’s sister is paying tribute to the late singer ahead of the release of his final television project, Building the Band.

The One Direction singer, 31, took on the role of a judge in the Netflix show that came to be his last TV project before he tragically died last year in Argentina.

His sister, Ruth Gibbins, shared her candid reaction via Instagram Stories on Tuesday, following the debut of the Building the Band trailer earlier in the week on June 11.

“I’m heartbroken he never got the chance to see how great he [is] in this show. He knew he had done a good job, we all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!”

Gibbins continued, “You’re a star Liam, you always were and always will be. There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride, always. Miss you more every day.”

The father-of-one had finished filming the show several months before he died last October from a hotel balcony fall in Argentina.

A synopsis for the series reads, “All they [the contestants] have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry, and merit… with incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal – to find the next great music band – the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.”
