‘Top Gun’ director gives update on third installment

Joseph Kosinski, the director for films Top Gun: Maverick and Brad Pitt’s F-1, dropped hints for what fans can expect from Top Gun 3.

Currently doing interviews to support his film, F-1, GQ managed to get a few words on the plans he has for the third installment of the Top Gun franchise.

“I think we’ve found a way to do it, not only in the scale of what we’re proposing, but the idea itself of the story we’re telling,” Kosinski said.

“There’s still more story to tell for him. There’s one last ride. So we’re working on it now,” the director further mentioned, referencing Tom Cruise’s character, Maverick.

“It’s an existential question that Maverick has to deal with, that would make Maverick feel small, I think, as a movie, compared to what we’re talking about,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention that Joseph Kosinski directed Top Gun: Maverick as well as F1 but it is not the first time he worked with the Mission: Impossible star since he also helmed 2010’s TRON: Legacy and Oblivion, which also starred Tom Cruise.
