‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’’under fire for ‘disrespecting’ Zayn Malik

The Summer I Turned Pretty featured one of Zayn Malik’s songs in the third season and not everyone was thrilled.

The former One Direction star’s fans were left less in sheer disappointment and disgust after his single Let Me was played in a scene in episode 7 that is what many are calling the “cringiest scene ever.”

The track from his 2018 album Icarus Fall was used during an all boys dance rehearsal, which struck the wrong chord with some of Zayn’s supporters, who felt the moment didn’t do justice to the artist’s music.

Many took to social media to vent out their disappointment, arguing that the show “disrespected” Zayn’s artistry and “ruined” the song by pairing the beloved track with a cheesy, awkward sequence.

While some found it entertaining, others felt that the awkward scene was mismatched with the song’s vibe and undeserving of Malik’s emotional vocals.

One dramatically wrote on Reddit, “WHAT IN THE ZAYN MALIK IS HAPPENING — THEY ARE PROFANING HIS SONG [crying emoji],” sharing emotional disapproval over how the track was used.

“Zayn deserves a better scene than this [upset emoji],” another added.

A third chimed in saying, “I can’t believe zayn agreed to this.”

“Jeremiah has no right using a zayn song and of all songs LET ME? [crying emoji],” a fourth commented, expressing as if the popular series has treated something highly valued with disrespect or irreverence.
