Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got together two and a half years later and have been inseparable since. Soon, they will be taking the vows, but a subtle detail about their relationship seems alarming to relationship experts.
The 35-year-old pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, have not fought once since they started dating, as he admitted on his podcast with Jason Kelce, New Heights.
The NFL star asked his guest, George Clooney, about his claim that he hasn’t fought with his wife, Amal Clooney, once in 10 years, after which he asked the same of Kelce.
“Well, it’s only been two and a half years, and you’re right. I haven’t gotten into an argument. Never once,” the athlete said.
While fans appreciated Kelce’s attitude, relationship therapist, Dr. Argie Allen-Wilson, told People Magazine, “People don’t like conflict, and so they think, ‘Okay, if we’re not fighting, then this means we have a great relationship.’ But that’s not necessarily so.”
The expert went on to share that relationships are examined on the basis of how well the couple treats conflicts and navigating differences and disagreements is the key to growing stronger together.
“How else do you know how to traverse difficulty in a relationship if you never are tested or you’re never testing yourself or the relationship?” she argued.
Arguments are necessary to the extent that often relationships fall apart when they hit an impasse together because one of the partners is tired of compromising, and they are not used to the concept of “fair fighting.”
The couple’s fans also raised concerns about Kelce and the Eras Tour hitmaker, considering they’re getting married next summer, but all the opinions are based on speculation.
