Stephen Colbert is speaking out about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension from ABC and told his fellow late-night show host that he “stands” with him and his team.
Two days after Kimmel made remarks on Charlie Kirk’s assassination during the monologue of the September 15 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC “indefinitely” pulled off the host.
As per New York Post, Colbert articulated his thoughts about the suspension calling it a “blatant censorship” during a Q&A before the taping of his Thursday, September 18 Late Night show.
“I’ll say this for my network. They wouldn’t have done this. Now regardless of what you think, that has already been done and how that looks, this is weak. This is blatant censorship,” Colbert said.
“With an autocrat, you cannot give an inch. Jimmy, I stand with you and your staff 100%,” Colbert noted, per CNBC,
For the unversed, Krik, an American right-wing political activist, was shot dead at the age of 31 on September 10, at an event in a university in Utah.
Kimmel claimed in the monologue of his show’s Monday episode, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
This suspension came two months after CBS announced cancellation of Colbert’s Late Night show after 10 seasons.
