‘Scream 8’ update divides fans: ‘Let it die with some dignity’

Another round of scares is coming as Scream 8 is officially in the works.

A new slasher is on the way to terrify fans as the eighth installment is in development at Spyglass with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, better known as the Zuckerman sisters, set to write it.

Notably, last month Scream 7 set a new record for the slasher franchise, earning more than $220 worldwide.

However, despite the record breaking success fans are left divided over the forthcoming addition.

While some share high hopes and are looking forward to the new chapter, others simply asked the creators to just quit and retire with dignity.

“Bring it on [cool and fire emoji] Absolute cinema,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another expressed, “The 7th was not good, I hope the next one will be excellent.”

On the other hand, one critic commented, “We don’t want it.”

Another wrote, “No shade but i am tired…The last one was bullshit.”

“Another shitty sequel only for so many potential Indie horror films to be left in the dust,” a third added. “I want more original horror!”

“Tired,” a fourth expressed frustration, suggesting, “ The franchise is running on fumes at this point. Let it die with some dignity!”

The development follows the success of Scream 7, released February 27, which became the highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning more than $200 million worldwide.

It was also the first installment to be released in Imax theaters.
