Princess Catherine once playfully dismissed a rumour about her obsession with Prince William during the couple’s 2010 engagement interview.
In a nearly 18-minute sit-down with Tom Bradby for ITV News, filmed at St James’s Palace in London, the Princess of Wales was asked if she really kept a photograph of Prince William on her bedroom wall as a teenager.
Before Catherine could respond, Prince William quickly joked that it had been more than one.
“There wasn’t just one,” William interjected, laughing. “There was like, 10, 20.”
Catherine promptly dismissed the idea with a smile. “He wishes,” she replied, explaining that her bedroom wall actually featured a poster of a famous Levi’s model.
“He wishes,” Kate said coyly. “No, I had the Levi’s guy on my wall, not a picture of William, sorry,” to which, Prince William cheekily added, “It was me in Levis, honestly.”
The couple met while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and were friends for more than a year before beginning their relationship in 2003.
Their engagement was announced in 2010 after William proposed during a private holiday in Kenya. He presented Catherine with the blue sapphire and diamond ring that had once belonged to his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
William said choosing the ring was his way of keeping his mother close to the milestone, calling it “quite nice” that she could still be part of the moment in spirit.
During the interview, the pair also spoke openly about their brief split in 2007, explaining that time apart ultimately strengthened their relationship.
The couple married at Westminster Abbey in 2011 and now share three children: Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis of Wales.
