Nick Offerman is clearing his schedule for family time this holiday season.

The 55-year-old actor recently opened up about a holiday rule he and his wife, Megan Mullally, share when they’re splitting time between his family in Illinois and her relatives in Oklahoma.

“The only rule is no work,” Offerman told the press while promoting his Netflix series Death by Lightning. “Hollywood knows to leave us alone until the new year arrives.”

Offerman and Mullally, 67, met in 2000 while co-starring in the play The Berlin Circle. They got engaged in 2002 and surprised friends with a home wedding in Los Angeles the following year.

Their proposal story became a running joke after Offerman once dropped a quarter, prompting Mullally to tease him about proposing. Later, when he asked for real, she knew immediately. “I was clearly terrified,” People quoted him.

The Parks and Recreation alum also admitted he gained 20 pounds and wore an “incredible fat suit” for his role in the historical drama.

“It’s not a crazy amount, so it just sort of tapped into hedonism,” he said of his weight gain.

Offerman currently stars as Vice President Chester Arthur in Death by Lightning, now streaming on Netflix.
