Raúl Rocha, president and co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, has reportedly been charged with alleged involvement in drug, weapons, and fuel trafficking between Guatemala and Mexico.
According to a report by Reforma, Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) believes Rocha to be an alleged leader of a criminal group that smuggles fuel along the Usumacinta River and transports it by truck to Querétaro.
On August 6, an official from Mexico’s organised crime prosecutor’s office requested an arrest warrant for Rocha, who also serves as Guatemala’s consul in Mexico.
Investigators say they raided several properties and found records showing Rocha funded the network, including a payment of 2.1 million pesos.
The warrant reviewed by Reforma claims the group has government contacts at every level to help move fuel, drugs, and military-grade weapons.
Federal sources told Reforma that Rocha approached authorities in October seeking a plea deal in exchange for information.
The revelations surfaced just days after the Miss Universe 2025 pageant was mired in turmoil, with judges quitting abruptly over a public confrontation between a contestant and a pageant executive and multiple accusations of scoring irregularities.
Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch went on to win the pageant.
