Lucy Liu says her 10-year-old son, Rockwell, has no idea how famous she is despite her nearly 30 years in Hollywood.

The 57-year-old actress got candid about motherhood in a recent interview, revealing that her son “does not know how cool” she is.

“He knows I can make a killer piece of chicken and heat up a nice lasagna,” Liu told People. “Basic mom stuff.”

The Rosemead star also shared that Rockwell has seen almost none of his mother’s screen work, excluding her 2024 holiday adventure film Red One, which is about rescuing Santa Claus.

“He was 9, and probably a little bit under the gun to watch that,” she admitted. “But once he got over the scary creatures, he really loved it.”

Liu added that she hopes Rockwell is proud of her and described motherhood as the most transformative experience of her life. “He is my greatest teacher,” she said. “I’ve never learned so much in such a short period of time.”

By 2023, she described her path to parenthood as instinctive rather than heavily planned. “I didn’t have a plan,” she told The Cut
