Karate Kid: Legends is a widely-anticipated film. However, since its release, the movie has been unable to beat Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible at the box office.
These films have been running in cinemas together. However, data suggests that the latest martial arts film managed to rake in $21 million in its first three days at the domestic box office.
According to Collider, it is less than half of what 2010’s The Karate Kid collected on its opening weekend.
In contrast, the latest Mission Impossible pocketed $27 million in the second weekend, boosting its domestic collection to $120 million.
Earlier, Tom celebrated his over three decades-spanning franchise in a heartfelt post. “Over 30 years ago, I began the journey of producing my first film, Mission: Impossible.”
He continued, “Since then, these eight films have taken me on the adventure of a lifetime. To the incredible directors, actors, artists, and crews across the globe who have helped bring these stories to life, I thank you. It has been a privilege to work alongside you all,” Cruise added.
“Most importantly, I want to thank the audience, for whom it is our great pleasure to create these films and for whom we all serve. We’re thrilled to share The Final Reckoning with you,” Tom concluded.
