Zendaya and Robert Pattinson have been met with a question that left both them and the internet unimpressed, when a journalist on a French news show asked whether their respective partners feel “jealous” about all the time they have spent together.
The pair, who play a happily engaged couple in their new dark comedy The Drama, were asked whether Tom Holland and Suki Waterhouse might be feeling envious given how much time Zendaya and Pattinson have clocked together, not just promoting the film but with two further collaborations, The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three, also on the horizon.
Their response was instant. The two burst out laughing before saying in unison: “I don’t think they are… at all.”
Online, viewers were quick to call the question out.
“Maybe let someone else screen your questions,” one person wrote on X. “That’s so ridiculous,” said another, while a third added, “Ugghh why would they ask that.”
It’s easy to see why the question landed so flatly.
Both Holland and Waterhouse have been openly supportive of their partners’ work together.
Holland posted a clip from The Drama on Instagram urging his followers to buy tickets, writing: “I honestly couldn’t be more excited for you to see this movie and believe me when I say it’s gonna floor you.”
Pattinson, for his part, has spoken warmly about working with Zendaya.
In a March interview with French magazine Premiere, he described calling her the night before filming a particularly challenging scene that had been preoccupying him.
After two hours of him sharing his doubts and analysis, he said, she calmly pointed out that the line simply meant what it said. No hidden meaning required.
The Drama opens in cinemas on 3 April.
