James Gunn addresses ‘Wonder Woman’ casting rumors

James Gunn has finally set the record straight on rumors that he cast Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman.

The CEO of the DC studios addressed fans’ speculations about casting Adria for a major DC Universe role in an interview with Extra.

“I follow Adria on Instagram, but everybody came out [and thought], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” said James. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.”

“But she was in a movie that I made seven years ago,” added the filmmaker, referring to 2016’s The Belko Experiment. “We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time.”

“I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her. People just notice these things all the time,” continued James.

Recently, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James confirmed that a Wonder Woman movie is in development at DC.

“We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now,” he told the outlet at that time.
