Glen Powell has opened up about the story behind his new series, Chad Powers.

In a new chat with PEOPLE Magazine, the actor discussed the concept of the show, in which he plays the title role, a former NFL player who goes undercover with a new identity to join a college football team.

The premise has already drawn comparisons to Robin Williams’ Mrs. Doubtfire, where Williams’ character posed as a nanny to remain close to his children.

The series will begin streaming on Hulu on 30th September, 2025.

A passion project for Powell, Chad Powers revolves heavily around football culture.

To celebrate its launch, the actor teamed up with Raising Cane‘s to host a tailgate-style pop-up fan screening in the parking lot of the fast-food chain’s Torrence, California, location.

“People that love college football and love the tailgate nature of things,” Powell said, noting that the event was designed to capture the spirit of community and sportsmanship.

He added that the show’s themes will resonate far beyond football.

“They will bond over what a great sports story is or what a great underdog story is — and all the things that are thematically rich in Raising Cane’s are sort of the same things in Chad Powers. It’s just a home run. Well, I guess not a home run.”
