George Clooney is no stranger to fame. But he shares that it has a negative side, too, giving an example of his aunt, Rosemary Clooney.
She was a legendary singer popular in the 1950s. He shares, “I’d seen it from the point of view of my aunt [the singer Rosemary Clooney]. She was a big star in Hollywood in the ’50s.”
But when pop culture changed, she suddenly found herself out of the limelight. “Then pop music changed, and she was out of business,” he remembers.
In response, George recalls, Rosemary turned to drugs. “She didn’t handle it well and lost about 30 years on drugs and booze, being pretty angry at life.”
Elsewhere in the interview with USA Today, George reveals the diva behaviour of some actors he saw in his career.
“A little bit of it happens accidentally with people trying to make everything nice. There’s some actors that are literally ‘I only eat green M&M’s’ kind of b***s***.”
Sharing his example, coming from humble ground, he adds, “I grew up in Kentucky – we try to stay out of trailers. That’s not the end all and be all, [me] in a double wide on the set.”
George meanwhile is promoting his latest movie Jay Kelly.
