Emma Watson’s dad talks about ‘impact of fame’ with new cast of ‘Harry Potter’

Emma Watson’s father just warned the parents of the new Harry, Hermione and Ron.

As the filming for the HBO TV series of Harry Potter begins, Emma’s dad discussed the “impact of fame on children.”

After the trio was officially announced this week, with Dominic McLaughlin landing the titular role, Arabella Stanton being set to play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout selected to portray Ron Weasley, Emma’s father has now broken silence on the decision.

The 35-year-old actress herself, portrayed the role of Hermione Granger for ten years in the Harry Potter films and her father recalled how hard he worked to keep Emma “grounded.”

He told Times Radio, “As a parent, you have to be scared… This can be a very difficult thing for a parent and child to handle, or not.”

He continued, “It certainly helped that I don’t actually watch movies, it’s not a big thing in the house, and so it was easier for us to keep her feet on the ground.”

“Normal life continued as far as possible: her homework would go back to school on motorbikes, admittedly, but she had to do her homework and check in,” the Little Women actress’s father added.

For the unversed, HBO announced that Harry Potter would be getting a TV series remake, filming for which has started in France with the cast and crew at Île de Sein off the coast of Brittany to recreate one of the most famous moments in history, where Hagrid says, “You’re a wizard Harry!”

The author of the hit story, JK Rowling has also given her seal of approval over the casting of the golden trio, writing on X, formerly Twitter, “All three are wonderful. I couldn’t be happier.”
