Dakota Johnson welcomed a new furry friend following her recent breakup with Chris Martin.

The Materialists star made an appearance on the Good Hang podcast on June 10 and revealed she adopted a puppy named Tokyo from the Santa Barbara Humane Society in California.

“We rescued her on Saturday from the Santa Barbara pound,” Dakota told host Amy Poehler.

“I didn’t plan on it,” she said of her adoption.

While remembering her previous pet dog, Zeppelin, who passed away in December at age 17, the actress, 35, noted that she was still grieving the loss.

“I thought, ‘It’s gonna be a while,'” Dakota recalled. “But then I saw her, and she’s an angel.”

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress even brought Tokyo to the podcast studio.

“She’s a performer,” Dakota joked as Tokyo sniffed the microphone. “Normally she hides in the back of her crate. Now she’s like, ‘Here I am.’”

“You’re an actress just like your mom!” she spoke to her new pet with a smile.
