Charli XCX also credited Todd Haynes’ documentary about The Velvet Underground as one of the sources of inspiration for this soundtrack, as it reminded her, “Any song had to be both ‘elegant and brutal.’”

She then wrote about reaching out to John Cale, who collaborated with her on the song, “I feel so lucky to have been able to work with John on this song,” Charli XCX wrote.
