Colleen Hoover recently admitted feeling embarrassed over ‘It Ends With Us’

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle has only gotten complicated with time, and although the author of It Ends With Us tried to keep her distance from the drama, she is once again brought to the courtroom.

The 38-year-old actress and her legal team brought out fresh claims about Hoover in their latest court filing, alleging that the author was “reluctant” to work with the Jane the Virgin star, 41, since the beginning.

The Gossip Girl star argued that Hoover had intended for a woman to direct the adaptation since they would be more reliable to communicate the feminist message in the story, according to the legal documents obtained by Us Weekly.

“Hoover was reluctant to option the Film to a man, but agreed to sell the rights to Wayfarer,” and before Baldoni joined as the director, “Hoover explicitly requested that a woman direct the Film.”

This comes after the Regretting You writer recently commented on the legal battle in an interview with Elle.

Hoover admitted that the controversy surrounding the movie “feels like a circus,” and gives her and her family “PTSD” to think about the story since her own mother’s domestic violence story inspired the book.

The best-selling author noted that she cannot recommend the book to anyone anymore because of the negativity the legal war has brought to its name.
