Rita Ora, the British singer-songwriter, opened up about giving her husband, Taika Waititi, a dream proposal that she had always wanted for herself.
The Body on Me singer revealed the romantic details of how she proposed to Taika during her appearance on the Begin Again podcast.
“We were in LA I rented out a hotel room in Palm Springs. A really nice fancy one ― filled it up with balloons and cake,” she revealed.
Continuing the candid conversation, Rita recalled Taika’s funny response to her surprise, saying, “I’m holding the cake, like ― holding a bloody cake ― and the balloons are all around us.
“He walks into the room and he’s like, ‘What the hell, is it Valentine’s Day?’ I’m like ‘Nooooo!’ So anyway, I get down on one knee…” (sic)
She further shared that Taika had a confused reaction as he asked her, “What is happening?”
Rita admitted she was worried about his response, “Maybe he doesn’t want it,” she said.
The singer continued, “Maybe he’s OK to just be in a relationship, which was fine with me, too. But I just wanted to lock him down. And I did!” and luckily he said yes.”
The couple got married just a few weeks later in August 2022, in an intimate gathering of their loved ones.
