Idris Elba recently made a candid admission about his show The Wire.

During his latest appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Idris Elba weighed in on his Stringer Bell and why he never became interested in watching the popular show.

The show host Amy gushed over Idris Elba’s performance in the crime series drama and said, “I’m such a huge fan of The Wire.”

She shared, “It’s a series that changed my life. I watched it three times. I could talk to you about it forever.”

However, this praise prompted Idris Elba to make an interesting confession.

“The truth is that I actually don’t speak about The Wire as much as people might think,” he disclosed.

“Even though I am definitely, at least once a day, someone says, ‘Bro, Stringer Bell! The Wire!’ Whatever it is,” he added acknowledging the show’s enduring fandom.

He went on to confess that he has never watched the show because of the profound connection he felt towards it.

He reasoned, “When Stringer Bell died, there was a part of me that died with that character.”

“I don’t like being overly conscious of what my performance is like or whatever because it makes me conscious about doing it. I like being in it rather than watching it,” Idris also stated after which he signed off from the chat.
