James McAvoy’s blunt opinion on cosmetic surgeries to look younger in Hollywood: ‘They look weirder’

James McAvoy, the star face of several franchises, is not fretting over getting wrinkles as he reflects on Hollywood’s ageing fears.

Weighing in on the looks department, the X-Men star shares he is not losing sleep over it because he is “doing okay”.

“Relatively not,” the actor tells the host on The Romesh Ranganathan Show when asked about the views on ageing.

“I think just in a normal way, in the way that everybody does. As an actor, I think I’m doing okay. I think I’m not a bad-looking guy.”

Looks, McAvoy shares, are not the criteria for him getting the roles. “I don’t think I get roles because of, like, ‘Oh, he’s good-looking.'”

Therefore, getting old is a phase of life he kind of lets grow on. “So kind of ageing and stuff, and going a bit baldy at the back and all that, kind of feels a bit like I’m allowed to.”

But not everyone is allowing ageing to take its path and opting for cosmetic fixes.

Answering this, McAvoy says striving for a younger look through artificial means can backfire.

“There are a lot of people just starting to look a bit weird. And that is the thing. It’s like, you’re not looking younger. You’re just looking weirder.”
