North West has debuted a bold new manicure featuring spikes and piercings.

The 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West shared photos of the look on her Instagram Stories late Friday, showing off long, transparent aqua blue nails, glittered and decorated with metal studs and spikes on every finger, including her thumbs.

On two middle fingers of her left hand, pink Japanese letters appeared to spell “North-chan,” referencing her father’s 2024 song Bomb with Ty Dolla $ign. North, who rapped part of the track in Japanese, credited nail artists Noehmi Saldana and Akemi Santiago for the dramatic look.

The manicure comes amid ongoing fan debates over North’s daring style choices. Earlier this year, she received criticism for a nose-bridge accessory, blackened teeth, and a large diamond pendant. While her father has expressed concerns about her social media presence, her mother is supportive of her self-expression.

During an October episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kardashian said it can be challenging to navigate trends as a parent.

“It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things,” she explained. “But then my daughter tries to wear it and then I’m like, ‘okay, we’re never wearing that again.’”

Kardashian said she encourages North’s creativity, even when it comes to fashion and beauty.
