Maya Hawke, Lewis Pullman share how famous parents shaped their careers

Maya Hawke and Lewis Pullman look at their famous parents for their acting inspiration.

The two actors admitted that their parents had shown them how to embrace “grace and gratitude” in Hollywood.

Maya and Lewis, who are starring in the upcoming rom-com Wishful Thinking, stepped out on the red carpet of the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 12 and reflected on the wisdom they gained from their famous parents.

Lewis, whose father is Bill Pullman and mother is dancer Tamara Hurwitz, made his acting debut alongside his dad in The Ballad of Lefty Brown back in 2017.

The Spaceballs 2 actor revealed that his father always had a calm approach towards his work and he kept work and private life separate.

“My dad leads through example. He doesn’t really force feed mantras down my throat, which I think has been very helpful,” Lewis gushed.

He noted that the teaching he got from Bill over the past few years is “priceless.”

Meanwhile, Maya, who is the daughter of actress Umma Thurman and actor Ethan Hawke, gave her a clear picture early on of how it feels to live through public scrutiny.

Maya shared that her parents taught her to deal with fame with “grace and gratitude” even when it is overwhelming.

She believes that success in the indutry sometime “turn so sour” that it often affects the privacy.

“I’m really grateful for the ways my parents showed me that the price to your humanity, of avoiding interacting with the world, is a more expensive price than the price of taking a picture with someone on the street,” Maya added.
