Hilary Duff has reflected on her“Childhood Nemesis” era and how she tried to steal the spotlight at her rival’s event.
The 38-year-old singer and actress admitted that she deliberately started the trend of gatecrashing your nemesis day by showing up at a premiere connected to her rival Lindsay Lohan.
For those unversed, the tension between Hilary duff and Lindsay Lohan stemmed from their overlapping history with the late Aaron Carter. Their rivalry was one of the most talked-about celebrity rivalries of the early 2000s.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, when Hilary was asked if she had deliberately gatecrashed the event, the actress answered by looking back at the time she did something that she described as childish but expected that thing absolutely fine for a teenager in the early 2000s.
“I think absolutely yes. I was a teenager,” she admitted.
“But also, Chad Michael Murray invited me. Why would he…I don’t want to start any more stuff, but he was like, ‘You should come with me,’ ” she added.
“And I was like, ‘Mhm. Probably I should.’ I mean, what was I, like sixteen? No, I was younger than that,” she continued.
Murray, who starred alongside Duff in A Cinderella Story, also appeared in Freaky Friday, revealed that she wasn’t surprised when Lohan decided to continue the rivalry and later turned up at the premiere of Duff’s own film, Cheaper by the Dozen, later that same year.
“I mean, that was, like, my childhood feud, like my childhood nemesis,” she laughed.
The singer continued by saying that she has no embarrassment in taking responsibility for what she did in her teenage girl era.
“I’m sure my publicist will be like, what the f*** are you doing? But now it’s so many years later. Like, who cares? It does not matter.”
However, the former rivals eventually buried the hatchet during an unexpected encounter years later.
“Lindsay came up to me at a club once and was like, ‘Are we good?’ And I was like, ‘We’re good.’ She was like, ‘Let’s take a shot.’ I’m like, ‘Okay.’ It was amazing,” she said.
