Kate Beckinsale calls out tabloid press over focus on celebrity children

Kate Beckinsale, a well-known actress and mom of two, is speaking out against tabloid media.

Her reasoning is simple: the press’s obsession with celebrity children is dangerous and disgusting, too.

In a video on Instagram, the star says the media’s focus on what is commonly attributed to children of famous parents, i.e., nepo babies, is that they are punished for simply being born in a well-known family.

“There are a lot of famous people whose parents were also in the industry, whether it’s Ben Stiller — all sorts of people — and we all got away with it.. But, now, it’s the biggest crime you could have ever committed to be born to a famous person.”

In her view, the societies in the U.S. and the UK have failed to protect children. “And if you’re stupid and brainwashed and idiotic, you’re going to think that this is a champagne problem and crying on a yacht.”

She continues, “But really what this says is how much we have failed our children in pretty much all of our countries, but most particularly America and the U.K., where we have the resources to do so much better.”
