Damson Idris plays coys about ‘Black Panther’ casting

After Chadwick Boseman’s death, the Black Panther role was not recast. However, this might change as Damson Idris hints at a conversation with Marvel.

Appearing on Today, the host asked him, “There’s some speculation out there in the universe that you could be cast as the next Black Panther. Have you had any conversations about that? Yes or no?”

The star, who was on the show to promote his upcoming film F1, gave a mixed response, “Yes-no!”.

When pressed by the host, the actor said, “Uh, it could mean no!” But “it probably means yes,” the host, Craig Melvin, said. “If they asked, would you say yes?” Idris, at last, responded, “Yes.”

Despite these rumours of recasting, Nate Moore, the producer of Black Panther 3, weighed in on an interview with EW.

“I know there’s been a lot of chatter online about casting and villains. None of that’s true,” he added.

“We just haven’t gotten there yet, to be honest, but I am very excited to start those conversations hopefully this year.”
