Chris Evans chooses his mother over everything

Chris Evans keeps her mother on top.

For the unversed, at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Friday, May 23, the 43-year-old American actor’s latest movie, Honey Don’t! premiered but he did not make it to the event. His costars, including Margaret Qualley, Charlie Day, Aubrey Plaza, and the writer-director Ethan Coen, were present to debut the movie.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Evans opened up about not attending the event as he shared a message.

He scribbled, “I wish I could’ve been with my incredible cast and filmmakers at Cannes but it was my mother’s 70th birthday and there are some things you just can’t miss! Congrats everyone!!”

Previously, while conversing with Esquire, The Avengers star called his mother “a nut — she’s a character in a movie.”

Notably, in the same interview, Evans’ mom, Lisa, shared that his “biggest fear was losing his anonymity” when he thought about playing Captain America.

Calling to mind, she revealed, “He said, ‘I have a career now where I can do work I really like. I can walk my dog. Nobody bothers me. Nobody wants to talk to me. I can go wherever I want. And the idea of losing that is terrifying to me.’”

Evans used to “call and ask for my advice” while shooting and Lisa would tell him, “Look, you want to do acting work for the rest of your life? If you do this part, you will have the opportunity. You’ll never have to worry about paying the rent. If you take the part, you just have to decide it’s not going to affect my life negatively — it will enable it.”
