Judi Dench throws support behind Kevin Spacey as he faces civil sex assault case

Kevin Spacey was shunned from the industry after he was accused of sexual assault. But Judi Dench, who starred with him in the 2001 movie The Shipping News, did not hold negative views of him.

“Kevin has been exonerated and I hear from Kevin, we text,” she tells The Radio Times, while referring to the verdict announced by a court in London where the House of Cards star was found not guilty on charges of sexual assault.

This is not the first time the James Bond star has backed the actor. “Are we going to negate 10 years at the Old Vic and everything that he did, how wonderful he’s been in all those films?” she said, referring to Kevin in the interview with The Radio Times.

Moreover, next October, Kevin is set to go to the High Court in London to face civil claims of sexual assault from three men.

The assault, the men alleged, took place between 2000 and 2013. The actor, on the other hand, strongly denied the accusations.

Facing lawsuits in courts, Kevin earlier claimed in the interview with The Telegraph that he has been “living in hotels” and “living in Airbnbs,” adding, “I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home.”

His statement went viral on social media, prompting him to clarify, “I feel the need to respond. Not to the press, but to the thousands of people who have reached out over the past few days, offering me a place to stay, or have just asked if I’m okay.

He continued, And to all of you, let me first say that I am truly touched by your generosity, full stop.”

Criticizing the publication for a misleading headline, Kevin said he is not homeless, noting, “But it is clear from the article itself that I am not one of them, nor was I attempting to say that I was.

“Thank you for just paying attention for a few minutes, and for indulging me, and for all the kindness that you’ve shown me,” Kevin concluded.
