‘The Batman Part II’ writer defends Paul Dano amid Quentin Tarantino criticism

Earlier, Quentin Tarantino, in a surprise move, verbally attacked Paul Dano’s performance in There Will Be Blood.

“The flaw is Paul Dano,” the filmmaker told The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast. “The weakest f***** actor in SAG.” “Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, but it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. [Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister.”

“I’m not saying [Dano’s] giving a terrible performance,” he continued. “I’m saying he’s giving a non-entity [performance]. I don’t care for him.”

Amid the criticism, Mattson Tomlin, who is said to be working with Paul on Batman Part II, where he is expected to reprise his Riddler character, pens a post in the actor’s support.

“I am really pleased to see so many people cheer on Paul Dano this week,” says the co-writer of the Caped Crusader sequel. “Not only is he a terrific actor, but he’s an astonishing director who exudes control and tremendous empathy.”

Despite Quentin’s criticism, Paul’s portrayal of preacher Eli Sunday is considered one of his best performances.
