Hugh Jackman praises Kate Hudson’s acting skills: ‘She’s a consummate actor’

Hugh Jackman has nothing but praise for his Song Sung Blue co-star Kate Hudson!

The 57-year-old actor praised Kate’s acting skills while accepting the inaugural Musical Tribute at the 2025 Gotham Awards in New York City.

Hugh, who plays the lead role in the forthcoming American biographical musical drama opposite Kate, said that he believes she’ll win her first Oscar for this film.

“Kate Hudson is not only one of the great stars of our business, she is a consummate actor,” said the Deadpool & Wolverine actor.

“I believe this time she is going to get an Oscar,” he added. “There is a difference, a very important difference, I can tell you, between Kate Hudson in Almost Famous, which was just three years ago, and Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue,” he added.

Song Sung Blue will be released in cinemas on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.

Recently, in an interview with People magazine, Hugh shared his working experience with Kate.

“I learned a lot from Kate. I learned about acting on film, actually,” he said. “I’ve done almost 50 films, but, somehow, working with Kate — it’s a very difficult thing to describe but the mixture of being prepared and just being instinctive is a really fine line and no one does it better than Kate Hudson.”

“Being with her, I learned and I think I became a better actor,” added Hugh.

It is pertinent to mention that Kate was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2001 Academy Awards for her role in Almost Famous.
