Robert Irwin hints surprising family member may join DWTS next

Roberts Irwin revealed that he has started a campaign for his mom, Terri Irwin, to join Dancing with the Stars.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter on December 1, the dancing pro opened up about what Terri thinks of joining the ABC series after her kids, Robert and Bindi Irwin, brought the trophy home.

It is pertinent to mention that Robert became the second person of the Irwin family who win the show. Bindi also took the trophy home back in 2015.

“Listen, the petition to have my mom on Dancing With the Stars has begun, and I started it,” Robert said jokingly.

“I started this season, and she is firmly like, ‘Nope, I’m not doing it. That’s not for me.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, I’m gonna wear you down,'” he continued.

Robert shared that he will support his mom and thinks she can do a “great” job on the DWTS dance floor.

“So let’s wear her down and get her on there, because I think she would be great,” he added.

Robert further explained that he himself never believed in himself in the first place that he could dance like his sister, but to their surprise, talent had to “come from somewhere.”

“Those dancing genes, I’m pretty darn sure they didn’t come from my dad,” he said of his late father, Steve Irwin.

“I mean, he was a very athletic human being, but [had] no rhythm. So, I mean, I guess [we got them from my] mom. It must be. I mean, it’s only fair, right? She’s got to do it,” he explained.

While speaking to E! News after his win on November 25, Robert teased his mom’s potential participation in DWTS, joking, “More of the Irwin-Carson family members have got to keep dancing.”

“I told Terri she needs to,” Robert’s DWTS dancing partner, Witney Carson, added.
