Halle Bailey’s emotional confession about mental health after birth

Halle Bailey opened up about her emotional journey after becoming a mother. 

The 25-year-old actress revealed that she went through postpartum depression and wanted to speak out to help others who might be struggling.

Halle, who shares her son Halo with her ex-partner DDG, said she felt it was important to talk about her experience openly.

Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, she said, “I felt like, wow, I have to speak up about this — not only for, you know, the older women, but the younger generation of women. 

There’s a lot of girls my age, like around 24 and 25, having children, and we kind of are like, ‘Oh my goodness.’”

The Color Purple actress explained that becoming a mother comes with emotional changes that many are not prepared for.

“When we give birth, we’re like, wow, the emotions, the hormones, everything. You realise that you need a strong support system with you. You need help. You need people to love on you and make sure that you’re okay.”

The Little Mermaid star added that she wanted to make other women feel less alone. “I just think it’s amazing to just be open about it because it can help so many people and make you not feel alone,” she said.

She also shared that motherhood gave her “a new level of maturity.” 

Halle described being “obsessed” with her son and said he gave her a greater purpose in life, bringing her new motivation and drive for her future.
