Avril Lavigne brings out mom during NYC concert

Avril Lavigne just offered gratitude to her parents.

The 40-year-old singer, who performed recently at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, brought out her mother on stage and documented the moment on her official Instagram account.

“I brought my Mom up on stage last night !!!!” the Here’s to Never Growing Up hitmaker began her caption.

Lavigne continued, “Ever since I was a little girl, both my mom and dad saw something in me and encouraged me to practice very hard and pursue my dream of becoming a singer/ musician.”

“They made a lot of sacrifices for me and I could not be where I am today without them. Mom thank you for believing in me. I am grateful to both my parents. Thank you for everything, I love you both!” she concluded.

On the stage, as she performed, Lavigne was filmed recalling that her mom told her, “you’re going to be a singer one day” after Lavigne sang Jesus Loves Me.

“When I was two years old, she knew I was going to be a singer,” the pop-punk icon further told her audience.

Avril Lavigne is currently on her Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits tour and initially rose to fame with hits like I’m With You and Girlfriend.

Additionally, she also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s breakthrough song, Breakaway which was release as a part of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement soundtrack in 2004.
